It’s still October, the month synonymous with the country’s independence, and so activities have been going on shortly before and after October 1st when Nigeria clocked 49. One of such events was the Gordon’s 7 point Agenda comedy show which was held at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
According to Godwin Komone popularly known as Gordons, one of the foremost Comedians in Nigeria, the aim of the show is to publicly lend a comic voice to the much debated 7 points presidential Agenda which President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua reeled out in his inaugural speech on May 29, 2007.
From Gordons’ point of view, “We want to address pressing issues with so much humour; we want people to laugh and also take something home. As comedians, we have moved from the level of being funny to being Social Commentators. I believe with this comedy show we should be able to interlink reality into hilarity.
“I have a passion to also talk to government, and talk to people from all walks of life”. So, the dream for a comedy event where all acts on stage will say something about the Seven Point Agenda was born.
He further expresses himself like this “Mr. President has not publicized the Agenda well enough. Elsewhere in developed nations, Governments try out new ideas with comedians. When they talk about it, the government measures the reaction of their citizens, and they know what next to do.”
“The Show will be recorded, and sold on VCD’s. That means when people buy and watch the show at home, they will understand the Agenda better. Since the government is not considering that, we want to show the example – if we don’t do that, who will?”
Abuja residents indeed chuckled and had something to take home through the various acts that gave a hilarious side of the discuss. Compered by Nollywood’s popular actress, Stella Damacus Nzeribe alongside Ghana’s celebrity actor, Van Vicker, together they brought a touch of Nollywood into Gordon’s debut Live Comedy show, and of course Stella was at her best as she dazzled the excited audience with her comic best.
Acts like Dare Art-Alade, J-Maritns, Samsung, Kefee, Jesse Jaggs, Clever Jay, and Duncan Mighty spiced up the event, while on the funny side Ali Baba, led Basket mouth, Julius Agwu, I Go Dye Okey Bakkasi, Gandoki, AY and the Youngest Oldman to ensure the audience had a real good time.
The Gordons debut show was promoted by Yankee Entertainment – Abuja’s number one Showbiz Promoters.

M-Net has launched an African Film Library – the largest electronic library of feature films, shorts and documentaries from 50 years of African film production. Over the past three years, M-Net has been negotiating the rights to almost 600 works in English, French, Arabic and Portuguese and digitizing them. The African Film Library consists of award-winning works from more than 80 filmmakers including Kwaw Ansah from Ghana, Senegal’s Ousmane Sembene and Djibril Mambety, Yousef Chahine from Egypt, and Haile Gerima from Ethiopia. Films are on offer through its video-on-demand (VOD) service via www.africanfilmlibrary.com. The online library aims to create a new audience for existing and emerging African filmmakers through the digital archive of the continent’s cultural cinematic heritage, and making African artists’ works easily accessible via the internet to a wide viewership around the worldwide. M-Net also plans to utilize conventional and new media (digital and internet broadband) distribution approaches to ensure maximum and sustained exposure of African films across the globe. Says Mike Dearham, curator of the African Film Library, “Making African-produced films and documentaries accessible to both Africans and the world must be a key driver of any strategy to grow the film industry. Distribution is vital, as are the platforms through which the films are delivered, and thus becomes a prerequisite to any serious growth strategy.” By accessing the African Film Library online, users of the service are able to search by genre, director or language and pay for and download digitised footage. Similar to a DVD rental service, viewers will have 24 hours access to the content. It is important to note that the content is portable, but the license is not so viewers can download the film on to a disc or flash drive, but will be required to pay again should they wish to watch it on another device or after the 24-hour period has expired.

MTN Project Fame West Africa Audition finale starts in Lagos. Setting off in
Sierra Leone and moving on to Calabar, Free Town, Kaduna.

Following the success of last year's MTN Project Fame West Africa singing competition,
hundreds of aspiring singers turned out for the Ghana auditions in Accra last
Saturday. The MUSIGA headquarters was taken over by hopefuls who strut the vocal
abilities to impress judges, KKD, Panji Anoff and Bibie Brew for a spot in the
hit series this year. 15 hopefuls were selected from Ghana for further selections
in Nigeria, were they will battle it out with others from Nigeria, Liberia and
Sierra Leone for a spot in the finals. How many Ghanaian will make it to top
16 this year and how far will they take Ghana? How many Nigerians will make
it to top 16 this year and how far will they take Nigeria?
Dorcas Yeboah is one of the former contestants from the recently concluded
1st season of Project Fame West Africa. Rather than disappear into oblivion
after her first taste of reality TV Fame, Dorcas is working hard to ensure that
she establishes a viable music career. Her debut single, the naughtily titled
Wuru Wuru Love has been climbing up the charts. The single is
expected to circulate to major radio stations and clubs in Nigeria and Ghana
for now, whilst she makes plans to shoot the video and record more songs for
her forthcoming album titled ADDICTION slated to drop in the last quarter of
this year.
The Ghanaian born artiste fell in love with music at the age of 7 while singing
in the children choir of her church. On Friday 29th of May she performed Alongside
top Nigerian music acts in the likes MI, Fatai Rolling Dollar, Weird MC, DJ
Zeez, Goldie, M Trill and host of others at the Nigerian Carnival tagged GrEen-White-GrEen
Carnival.

In future after accomplishing her musical goals, the next rated diva have plans
of embarking on a charity project to help single mothers in our society and
also own an African fashion label. According to the talented singer: My
works can be described as afro-centric that can be exported to both Europe and
America and still retain its dominance in the African continent.
We are eyeing the international market because Dorcas Yeboah is a born
entertainer that can impress a global audience. Shes the next diva Africa
is waiting for says Akpor Gbemre, the CEO of her management company.
